Smuggler's Run Trail Race & Festival

Date of Event: CANCELLED - Unfortunately, the current state of emergency has made for an unpredictable season here in Turkey Point, and the planning of events becomes increasingly more difficult. Check back next year, as we will be continuing our Smuggler's Run tradition in  July 2021. Stay safe and be healthy, runners!

Details: Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and register for much more than a race. Begin overlooking the Turkey Point Marsh and inner bay of Long Point, before looping through one of Southern Ontario's largest Carolinian forests. A scenic, yet challenging 6k, 12k or 18k distance available. Bring the whole family! There will be a 1k Treasure Trail Dash for the kids to kick off the day. 

The award presentations and the after party will continue in the Marshview Pavilion at Long Point Eco-Adventures!

Only a couple hours from Toronto you can come down just for the run- or stay for the weekend and explore Ontario's South Coast! Along with the Smuggler's Run Trail Race and Burning Kiln Winery, you can enjoy zipline tours, mountain biking, axe throwing, fishing, kayaking, hiking, star gazing and more at Long Point Eco-Adventures, plus the charm of the surrounding rural communities and the great beaches.

Nature Photography Workshop

Available Dates: Saturday, May 25th, and Saturday, Sept. 14th, 2019. Tours run from 1:00pm-4:00pm

Details: Nature photography refers to a wide range of photography taken outdoors. It's devoted to displaying natural elements such as landscapes, wildlife, plants and close-ups of natural scenes and textures. Join local photographer and naturalist Leanne Gauthier-Helmer for an afternoon where subjects such as composition, lighting, location and techniques will be discussed in order to enhance your skills behind the lens. Then journey off to practice these skills on the grounds of Long Point Eco-Adventures where the woods, gardens and wetlands provide unlimited subjects for the nature enthusiast. Suitable for both DSLR and point and shoot photographers.


Meet Your Guide

Leanne Gauthier-Helmer is a keen naturalist, and photographer who focuses on Environmental Education as a format in which to help people appreciate the beauty and fascinating history of the natural world around us. When Leanne is not working with the creative crews at Fanshawe College, Long Point Eco-Adventures, and Nature’s Calling Environmental Education, she can often be found exploring the woodlots and wetlands of Ontario with her family and camera in tow.
