At Long Point Eco-Adventures, we make creating opportunities for hands-on creative development a priority in the design and delivery of our education programs.

  • Long Point was designated as a World Biosphere Reserve in 1986.
  • This unique ecosystem contains the largest area of wetlands and woodlands remaining along the north shores of Lake Erie.
  • There are nearly 400 species of birds that have been recorded in the Long Point area, which is a globally significant Important Bird Area because of its unique geography and habitats.
  • The land and wetland systems have an exceptionally rich mix of habitats consisting of the open lake, shallow bays, sand bars, beaches, dunes, forests and scrubland, ponds and marshes.
School Group Education Programs

Long Point Eco-Adventures provides a stunning venue and a diverse selection of ½ day, full day and overnight programs for school groups based on curriculum links and the needs of each group. Come experience an adventure program that your students will never forget.

Science and Leadership Education Programs

The Recreation and Education Centre is a 5 minute bus ride from Long Point Eco-Adventures and offers dorm style accommodations at a price your students can afford.

Mess hall facilities are available for your students to cook their own meals OR relax and have your meals catered!

observatoryAstronomy: Explore the Universe

Our astronomy programs have been specifically designed to introduce students to the wonders and mysteries of the universe. Students will be introduced to our state-of-the-art telescope and how it is used for regular programming. Observing sessions throughout the day will be displayed on our two 46" high definition monitors, showcasing images from NASA, the Hubble and CSA.

potteryArts and Culture: Experience Pottery

Students will learn hand building techniques that have been used by potters for centuries to create inspirational, functional pieces of art. Three types of clay will be used to create depth and colour in each piece. After being fired, pieces will be delivered or shipped to the school.

wildlifeIntroduction to Ontario’s Wildlife

Students will be introduced to concepts of adaptation, habitat distribution and animal behaviour. A hands-on presentation of a variety of skulls and furs allows students to compare and appreciate the differences between species.

rawReptiles, Amphibians and Wetlands

This program takes students into the wetlands to learn about aquatic insects and water quality. Different types of wetlands and their diverse flora and fauna will be explored, including a hands-on study in our own wetland. Students will learn about different reptiles through a live showing including identification tips and specific threats facing each species.

This program will take students into the canopy of the Carolinian forest on our suspension bridges for an amazing tour of canopy ecology. Students will discover another world, learn about the importance of forests worldwide, and find there is still much to learn from exploring the treetops.

The Zip Line & Canopy Tour will get students out of the everyday classroom setting and send them flying through the treetops of the Carolinian forest. Two knowledgeable guides will inform students on the ecosystem, heritage and uniqueness of our locality.

Our teambuilding activities are designed to encourage problem solving and team work while fostering social skills and confidence.   • Reptiles, Amphibians and Wetlands (RAW)

This full day program incorporates many facets of science in the natural world. The RAW program will introduce students to many creatures native to Southern Ontario and their habitats.  The Life in the Canopy program takes students through all levels of the canopy on our skywalk bridges. From the forest floor up to the emergant canopy. There is plenty of unique wildlife to be discovered with this program.

  • Teambuilding Initiatives

This program involves a full day of teambuilding and leadership initiatives.  Trained and experienced facilitators will design a program based on grade level and the needs of your students.  Programs can include trust, teambuilding, communication and leadership based focuses.

This adventure-based program begins with an exploration of different wildlife and their habitats in Southern Ontario. Students will then explore the canopy on an incredible zipline through the Carolinian forest.  They will learn about the natural history of the area from two knowledgeable safety-oriented guides.
